Brief History

The OVCC came into being in 1975 as the Ocean View Lions Club wanted to bring the entire Ocean View Community together for its common good.  Father Herb Smith was its first chairman, and he was highly successful in organizing the various groups into the Ocean View Coordinating committee.

The organization continued to grow and represent a major section of the area and included 30 organizations as members.  Churches, civic leagues, garden clubs, fraternal organizations, and business firms combined their efforts and concern for cooperative action.

The objectives and organizational structure changed somewhat through the years of existence, and now, for numerous reasons, is the time to renew our efforts to bring into the OVCC every organized group in the greater Ocean View Area.
